Mitali’s Bio

Mitali Deypurkaystha is an experienced book consultant, publisher, author and keynote speaker. However, as the firstborn of Indian and Bangladeshi immigrants arriving in Gateshead, England, she was expected to become a medical doctor.

It all started at 16 when Mitali won a scriptwriting scholarship at a summer school in Edinburgh, Scotland. She fell in love with writing and even contributed to an episode of a long-running UK soap opera. At that moment, she knew medicine was no longer her future.

Two years later, she embarked on a Media Studies degree and then a Masters in Journalism. After this, she started freelancing for local newspapers and magazines in Manchester.

In 2010, fate struck. Mitali adopted a rescue cat, Isha, and she witnessed intelligence and sentience beyond the capabilities the world had led her to believe. She discovered that we’re duped into believing animals are dumb, which suits certain industries. She became vegan in 2012.

After living in Thailand for two years, she flew home with a street cat, Kali, who she could not bear to abandon back onto the streets. Kali spent a wonderful two years in the UK, living the life of a princess, before succumbing to cancer.

For over 25 years, Mitali has worked in various industries and organisations, including traditional media, digital marketing, recruitment, the NHS and Her Majesty’s Prison Service, to name a few.

In 2015, she became a leading copywriter and ghostwriter, authoring seven business books that generated over £6.5 million in additional business revenue and a further £1.5 million through sales pages and email marketing.

She is the author of the bestseller, The Freedom Master Plan, which reveals how her clients leveraged their books to amplify their voices and build unshakable authority, leading them to become thought leaders who influence change.

In 2020, she realised she was almost halfway through her life, and her dream of a fairer, conscious world would only be realised during her lifetime if the voices of ethical changemakers became louder.

She had also met many people whose views on social justice, health, animal ethics and the climate were permanently changed after reading a book—that’s the power of books. She decided to integrate her passion for books with the need to empower changemakers to tell their stories so that together, they could change the world, one book at a time.

Mitali is the owner of The Vegan Publisher, a book consulting company, and the Let’s Tell Your Story publishing imprint, both dedicated to transforming B Corp founders, ethical business owners, sustainability practitioners, social entrepreneurs and changemakers into bestselling authors.

This enables these inspiring people to become thought leaders who can influence positive change while attracting ideal clients, profits, investors, speaking opportunities, and even national and international press attention. Her mission is to create an army of conscious thought leaders so that the screams to end the exploitation of humans, animals, and the environment will become too loud to be ignored.

When not consulting with her clients about their books, Mitali is an avid crafter, recently adding macramé, sashiko, and diamond painting to her repertoire of skills. She’s also a supporter and volunteer of many animal rescue and environmental charities and a proponent of dancing like a lunatic whenever she gets writer’s block (it works!)
